Welcome to Great Wall Harrisburg, a delightful culinary destination located at 2905 N 7th St, Harrisburg, PA. This restaurant stands out as a beacon of quality and flavor in the area, attracting both locals and travelers alike. With a commitment to authentic Chinese cuisine, Great Wall Harrisburg is celebrated by patrons for its exceptional dishes and outstanding service.
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere. Though some may find the decor minimal, it perfectly complements the focus on food—a concept that truly resonates with customers such as Jesse Vincur, who describes it as a "tasty hidden gem." You will find a menu brimming with flavors, and the reviews speak volumes about the quality this establishment maintains.
One dish that consistently garners rave reviews is the coconut chicken, beloved by regulars like Moon Son. Its enticing blend of sweetness and savory notes is bound to make it a favorite for many. Not to be overlooked, the egg rolls are frequently heralded as the best on the East Coast. Jason Simmons raves about their generous fillings, packed with goodness rather than just dough. It’s no surprise that these egg rolls have earned a special place in his heart, even making it onto his travel list as a must-have.
The orange chicken is another star on the menu, striking the perfect balance between sweetness and spice, as complimented by Lynn Pritchard in her review. The addition of fresh broccoli not only enhances the dish visually but also adds a satisfying crunch. The flavors are authentic, with every bite reflecting the quality of the ingredients used.
For those who appreciate variety, the buffet option is a fantastic choice. Ghetu Bolden highlights its freshness and affordability, proving that Great Wall Harrisburg excels in creating a menu that offers both quality and value. Unlike larger establishments, the focus remains on serving well-prepared dishes that leave a lasting impression without overwhelming the palate.
In a world filled with fast food and fleeting trends, Great Wall Harrisburg prioritizes quality and taste, making it a top choice for those seeking genuine Chinese cuisine. Whether you're a local or just passing through Harrisburg, this restaurant promises a delightful dining experience filled with warmth and good food. I can't wait to return and explore more of what this culinary jewel has to offer!
“ They're very professional and a bright spot for what used to be a great plaza. I personally love their coconut chicken. One of the best in the area. ”
“ New Review 1-2-21: I absolutely love coming to this place for eggrolls and everything else. This time I got 3 eggrolls and a small roast pork lo mein and it was outstanding. This place is one of the last places on the East Coast that still offers large packed worth wile egg rolls. I eat all over this globe and this particular restaurant has made my list of worthwhile, willing to travel to, restaurants. Keep you the great work, and quality. 5 stars! I eat Chinese a lot and base the quality of the establishment based off of their egg rolls. I bought 10 eggrolls for a long drive and was not let down. The eggrolls at this place was packed full of goodness, not all dough, and respectfully priced. Just off of their eggroll quality I can only assume that the rest of their offerings will be outstanding. Deeeeeeelicious!!!! ”
“ I'm just in the area for a night while traveling and ordered via delivery. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The orange chicken had just enough sweetness and spice without going overboard. I appreciated the orange peel for authenticity. I put a note in wondering if I could have broccoli added, and there it was, steamed just right for a fresh crisp taste. I had the crab rangoon which also was very tasty, if not slightly chewy. Very good food and there was no cutting corners with this restaurant's quality ”
“ A very tasty hidden gem in Harrisburg with good clean Chinese food at good prices. Just could use more decor but I'm not complaining lol ”
“ I have never had a bad meal at this place. The food on the buffet is always fresh and the price is so cheap. Better to do a small really well than a mega buffet where half the items are old and dry. ”
“ I love getting my food from here and only here. Just don’t wait too late honestly. Great effective service all way around though. ”
“ Update..... Still my favorite! Best hole in the wall period. It is my go to whether I drive 5mins or 30.. I'm ordering here. Its virtually all pick up..... The food is the same everytime. I have been going here for years. The owner is extremely polite and remembers her repeat customers. ”
“ Best buffet in the Harrisburg area. Not the largest selection but they have the traditional items like General Tso's, Fried rice, Chicken & Broccoli, Won Ton soup and the most excellent egg rolls around. Even onion rings, fried chicken wings and buttery fried potatoes for those wanting more Americanized carbs. Food is fresh and replenished frequently (I was there for about 40 minutes and they must have brought out 12 or more different things to replace) Price can't be beat, either. Six bucks and change for all you can eat. Man, that's like late 90's pricing!! People at the counter are friendly and efficient, speak pretty decent English too. And they don't look at you like you're a cheapskate when you only want water instead of buying a bottled soda. Kind of a seedy area, and a very run-down shopping plaza, and far from the fanciest place you'll see, but for a good tasting and quick lunch it can't be beat. Give me a good "small" buffet over a so-so mega buffet any day of the week. ”
